Is There Any New Medications That Can Be Helpful In Hoarding Problems ?
Is there any new medications out there that can be helpfully in hoarding problems , clothes, tools, shelves to contain all the stuff Suffering from effects of major frontal lobe damage from car accident . When times get tuff he gets stuff a lot of stuff.
Major damage to frontal lobes can cause many psychiatric symptoms. Hoarding behavior can be secondary to obsessions, delusions or elated mood. The treatment would depend on the cause. SSRIs (Prozac, Zoloft etc) will help in obseession related hoarding and anti-psychotics (Zyprexa, Risperdal etc) are beneficial in hoarding due to other reasons. A detailed psychiatric assessment would be needed to find out what would suit him best. In my opinion, you should seek a consultation from a psychiatrist so that he is treated well.
Best wishes.
