Landed Hard On My Feet. Now Have Jolting Pain Up My Legs. Swollen & Bruised. X-ray No Problem. Suggestions?

Hi. I landed hard on both my feet on Mother's Day, May 12th. (I came down a zip line, and felt a jolting pain up my legs when my feet hit the ground) My right ankle hurts slightly, but my left ankle is still swollen and bruised. I had an x-ray done a week after it happened, but it came back fracture free. I have pain in my foot as well below my pinky toe. I've been on my feet a lot since it happened. Do you think the seelling is due to my continued use of it, or should I have another x-ray taken?

Hello,
Thanks for writing.
Your landing on feet must have cause little injury to the tendons and ligaments around the ankle joint. These are fibrous attachments that hold the bones and muscles in place. From what you say, your bones are alright as no fracture is seen. However the pain that you experience is due to injury to the supporting structures. Such injury is not always seen on X ray.
Please do not panic and give your feet some rest. You could do your regular movements bit don't stress your feet too much else the pain will be there for a longer time.
A second X ray is not required and will not provide any new information from the previous one, which you say is normal.
Hope this helps.
