Lisfranc Fracture, Permanent Screws, Painful Back, Developed Plantar Fasciitis. On Oxycodone And Morphine Pump. Will I Be Okay?

Hi,

I basically broke my foot in half over 6 months ago a Lisfranc Fracture. (Depressing-you lose everything...) I have 8 permanent screws within my left foot, and they placed 2 pins which they yanked out when they removed my cast after 8 weeks. Like I said its been 6 months, and I'm still in a lot of pain even with lots of physical therapy. I developed plantar fasciitis, and still have VERY limited strength in my calf/foot. Bone spurs at 26, to boot. Apparently, I go all out..

I was taking Norco for chronic back pain daily prior, they had to really up the medication when I had my surgery. It was a outpatient surgery, which they sent me home on oxycodone and a morphine pump. This BARELY touched my pain, but after the pump was empty... I was in teeth chattering screaming pain. They couldn't control my pain in the Emergency room, so they admitted me for a week. When I was let go, they sent me home on morphine pill form and to alternate it with norco.

Im still on norco for my back and foot, but it only helps with my back. In a few days, I will be having another surgery (gastrocnemius recession). What should I ask for to control my pain so I don't end up having to be admitted again? What do you think of this type of surgery? My doctor seems very involved with trials with this procedure and I trust him.. but I'm scared. This has already ruined my life as it is... I lost my full-time job (may lose my part-time because of restrictions), I am broke and I'm just plain miserable.

Thank you so much in advance,

Hi, it appears that you have not proceeded for physiotherapy, as it should be . There will be discomfert to takle with the physiotherapy, especially of the foot, as it a a weight bearing part.
I to my patient with such asymptoms prescribe neurotropic injections for 10 consecutive days, along with the drugs given for pain relief.
Thank you.
