Low Back Pain, Leg Pain, Cat Scan Report Normal, Blood In Stool, Antibiotics, Pain Killers, Anti Nausea Pills. Treatment?
My daughter was hospitalized with severe lower back pain and massive amounts of blood in stool last night. Cat Scan didn t show anything, They released her with a prescription for antibiotics , pain killers and anti- nausea pills. Today she is still experiencing severe lower back pain which is radiating to her thighs - her legs ache. Any recommendations for further/other medical testing?
Hi, Welcome to HCM, After going through your daughter's history, as she was hospitalized, I am sure she must have been investigated and treated accordingly. Blood in stool if it was really massive then should be investigated by proper examination like proctoscopy and colonoscopy to find out the cause and if bleeding is in upper part then endoscopy may be required. If she is feeling severe lower back pain then you may be required for further testing with MRI of back to see if anything is not missed. in the meantime continue the treatment. Hope this helps and please take very good care of her. Good Luck. Dr,Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
