Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My MRI shows C3-4 broad-based disc bulge is present. Minimally asymmetric towards the right. C4-5: endplate spurring and minimal disc bulge. C5-6: there is the above described disc desiccation and endplate edema . Broad based disc osteophyte complex causing anterior thecal sac effacement. Mild neural foraminal narrowing. Right neural foramen is patent. C6-7: broad based disc bulge. What does this all mean?
These are malformations and abnormalities of the bones of the spinal cord called vertebrae. Discs separate one vertebra from the other. Buldging means expansion of these discs. Oedema simply means there is a swelling observed. An osteophyte is an abnormal growth on the side of the bone that grows outwards usually towards the side. Neural foramane is the space within the vertebrae that accommodate the spinal cord. These symptoms shall deserve a good interpretation by your neurologist and correlation with clinical findings to decide on treatment options. The treatment can be medical or surgical depending on the intensity of symptoms. Thanks and hope this helps as I wish you the best of health. Kind regards.
