My Brother Has Very Deep Cough, Kindly Suggest The Remedies
HI doctor my brother has very deep cough I guess its because of smoking what medicine do you suggest to cure this chest infection. He is a male, 34 years old. He had some treatment from a local doctor but it was not effective. He has cough almost all the time and it gets stronger at night. Kindly suggest some syrup or antibiotic. Thanks in Advance

For how long has he been smoking and no's of cigg daily?Is he suffering from fever,loss of weight.loss of appetite,do you hear some chest sound during breathing,for how long has he been coughing?Further i would advice you to get his chest xray done,with sputum test.Regarding medicines i would suggest you to have some cough suppressants,along with Azithral 500mg OD.Some steroids can also be given Prevent from cold,adequate rest and let me know the investigation reports.

Thank you so much doctor. It was very quick reply. Here are answers of your questions in same order.
1. He is smoking for last years and takes 8 to 9 cigs daily, he is reducing them now.
2. No he is not suffering from fever
3. Yes there is some weight loss
4. Yes we can hear chest sound while he is breathing and coughing
I will take him to clinic to get his chest xray done. Which cough syrup do you recomend and how many pills of Azithral he would take daily.? I will let you know about xray results.

Thats ok.smoking for past one year would not affect much to an extent.Motivate him to quit smoking too regarding medicines go for corex-dx 2tsf TDS.tab prednisolone 10mg T.D.S(for ONE WEEK),Tab Azithral 500mg O.D.Rest with good diet
