Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My Husband Has Venus Stasis Ulcers And He Truly Wants Them Amputated. What Shall I Do?
It will be lengthy so please bear with me. My 54 year old husband has venus stasis ulcers and has been dealing with them going on 28 years. He has had multiple procedures. We can t think of anything that can be done. He truly wants them amputated. Suggestions?
It must be a difficult decision for hi to say he wants the legs amputated. This gives me an idea of how severe his symptoms are. I will suggest that he talks with his doctor and be made to understand exact what amputation is and how it will affect his life. If he is sound enough and maintains the same stand, then I think his wishes would need to be respected unless someone else wants to make that decision in his place, which is not right ethically.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications should need be.
