My right tonsil is swolen and hurts when I swallow or yawn. I had a virus 2 weeks ago with white spots on my tonsils, fever from 99-5-102.5 for six days, and a REALLY sore throat . i suggest you for antibiotic medication for 5-7 days Amoxycillin and paracetamol.
and you had to gargle hot salt water . Take rest and drink plenty of water ..

I took azithromycin (z-pac) while I was sick. I'm allergic to Amoxycillin. I've been gargling with salt water and using chlorahexadine gluconate (peridex) to gargle as well. It is really odd--my throat hurts worse the more tired I am. I can sleep off the sore throat--so weird!!

The yellow spots on the tonsils were the blocked crypts of the tonsils. Probably the antibiotic you took is resistant for the organisms I suppose. You need to change over to some good antibiotic probably Cephalosporins and take anti-inflammatory medicines (such as diclofenac/ibuprofen). Hence, you need to consult a good ENT specialist. Also, I would like to advice you to drink plenty of warm water, do gargles with povidone iodine mouth gargles 3-4 times/day after food. Avoid smoking, chilled and fried items for few days. Any more doubts you are welcome.

you are suffering from pyogenic tonsilitis. the white spots need be touched to make them exudate and then proper medication. saline gargles, hot water help a bit . amongst herbal medicines have septillin and kuka tab.
