Nail Has Been Lifted From A Toe With No Bleeding. Is It Serious?

I was wearing a croc shoe barefoot and stepped into a hole causing my right baby toenail to lift. It's lifted from the nail bed about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way, but is still attached on the left side. It's not bleeding and the pain is extremely light. We wrapped it last night and I've been wearing a sock and a very loose shoe over it for protection. If I go to Urgent Care, is there anything they can do for me?

Hello!
Thanks for the query.

It is better to get the nail removed completely.

At present it is not giving much harm to you but there are chances of getting it removed accidentally by minor trauma. Also it may get infected and form abscess.

There is no benefit of keeping it in place. It is not going to help in regrowth.

New nail growth will be possible after removing it completely.

Hope this solves your query.

Thank you.
