I have not had a bm since thursdAy.my surgery was Friday the 15th.i did a bowel prep and have been on colace e since the surgery,I m taking two Percocet every4 hours but today started taking one and Motrin.any suggestions for what I should do next if anything.thanks Sarah Howe
Hi, Thank you for your query. Usually there will be paralytic ileus for 24 to 48 hours after surgery due to which there will be no bowel movements for this duration. Once the bowel motility starts, stool and gas will be passed. Monitor for vomitings, abdominal distention or discomfort and still if you have any problems, I suggest you to consult the doctor at earliest. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
