Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mum s been on Prednisone for the past 2 months due to a Myasthenia Gravis Ocular diagnosis. She s recently been hospitalized for severe weight loss due to no appetite , loss of taste & throat thrush. She s been experiencing very dry mouth & gall stones have also been detected. All blood tests & scans has revealed no cancerous tumours. Please advise whether this has been caused by the Prednisone.
seeing history, it seems that your mom have developed opportunistic infection due to immunocompromise situation as she is on corticosteroid drugs(prednisone) this throat thrust (candidiasis) is causing difficulty in swallowing and weight loss,. scan is normal. so you should take Antifungal drug course(Tab Forcan 150mg once a day for five days)
