On Healthy Diet For Weight Loss. Weight Loss Stopping After Exercise. Causes?
Why is it that as soon as I increase exercise my weight loss stops? I am on a weight reducing diet - a healthy diet that basically reduces fat and increases fruit and veg. It includes some carbs, some roughage, some milk products and some treats. I have lost a significant amount but still have a stone or two to go. I understand - and have read - about muscles supposedly weighing more than fat, but as soon as I undertake any formal exercise class ( aerobics in particular), the weight loss stops. It is so frustrating.
Hi. As you start exercising, your muscle starts building up and that causes a gain in weight, this counters the weight loss which occurs due to fat burn and loss of body water. The important thing to note is that this happens only initially, say for 1-2 months maximum, later, if you maintain a good diet control along with exercise, your weight loss will be better than before as also your BMR would have increased due to your exercise and more muscle mass, so that will help you shed more calories even when you are resting. Also, exercise will help in inch loss even at the same weight, so it will make you look slimmer and well toned at the same weight. My advice is to continue your diet regimen as it is helping you and you can add a moderate amount of exercise to it to facilitate your weight loss (eg 1 hr of exercise 3-4 times a week). Your aim should be to obtain weight loss by a healthy diet regimen and exercise mainly for toning up and inch loss.
Welcome to HCM. Its really frustrating when we dont lose those extra pounds after following proper exercise regime and diet plan. one reason of not losing fat can be You must have reached the plateau phase in weight reduction. It happens with most of the people after reducing some amount of weight. our body is very adaptable for any circumstances. it gets use to the situation very easily.
So to break this stage incorporate Yoga , Pilates or simple walking in your exercise regime. Have a fluctuating diet and exercise regime. Change it frequently. Then you will be able to reduce more easily.
Thanks
