Pain In Lower Lungs While Changing Position. Hurts While Breathing. Cause Of Pain?
I have pain in my left side of downward lung when I chage position. Its sharp pain, hurts to breathe . I have been like this for 2 days now. I could not even lay down to sleep . I had to sit up to sleep. Also alot of movement or activity and I start to hurt in the same area pretty bad. What would this be and what would cause such pain?
Thanks for seeking my advice on iCliniq. Please rest assured that the condition is NOT serious.
There are just two possibilities :-
1. Spasm of the muscles between the ribs, which will be relieved with 3-4 days of anti-inflammatory agents such as Combiflam ( one tablet THRICE daily after meals) for 3-4 days. Fomentation with Hot water bottle will also help in reducing pain.
2. The second possibility, which will definitely require further evaluation, is inflammation of pleura (the covering over the lungs) with or without presence of fluid in the pleural cavity. This condition could be either viral or tubercular.
Please get a chest X-ray and ultrasound of pleural cavity to exclude/confirm the aforementioned condition.
Do not hesitate to revert back to me along with the investigation reports.
Hi, It seems that you might have muscular strain of chest muscles. If you have cough, fever then it requires evaluation. Then go for CBC and x-ray chest. Take analgesic with muscle relaxant medicines. Ok and take care.
