It now invloves my entire neck, both shoulders and pain and weakness in my shoulders and arms. The drs. Did an xray early on and an mri about a month ago. The dr. Said the mri was somewhat blurry but he thought there was some narrowing of something. What type of dr. Do i need to see fot lr thois problem. Somedays i cant raise my arms very high and other days i cant even lift my coffee c7p? Please help.
Your symptoms are likely to be that of cervical radiculopathy. The nerves supplying the arms originate in the cervical portion of spinal cord and exit through neural foramen. When there is cervical spinedisc disease, these neural foramen get narrowed and there is pressure on the nerve root by the disc. This causes severe pain I think this is what your doctor is referring to after seeing your MRI scan. These things are not seen ion X ray and there fore X ray report is normal.
Treatment of this condition is to stop doing strenuous physical activity using arms and in some patients physiotherapy may reduce the pains. If you are feeling pain while lifting coffee cup, then you must consult a neurologist and take pain medications for cervical radiculopathy.
Hope this helps
