Pain In The Chest While Coughing, Sore Throat, Running Nose, Phlegm In The Throat. How To Relieve The Symptoms? Have Smoking Addiction
It all began with a sore throat that eventually escalated to pain in the chest when coughing. It s been a day and now I m slowly developing a runny nose and more thick yellow phlegm in my throat. My chest is the most painful though, it feels really tight and it hurts when I cough. How do I relieve these symptoms?! ps. I am a smoker
Chest pains from a cold are very common from both muscle strains (from coughing), intercostal neuralgia (inflammation of the nerves in your ribcage) and costochondritis (inflammation of the cartilages attached to your ribs). Try ibuprofen for pain, and see a doctor if it doesn't improve within a week, or if you develop more severe pain, coughing, high fever or difficulty breathing. Those signs could indicate pneumonia or other respiratory problems.
hi there, first and foremost as you know you need to stop smoking, secondly do get an x-ray chest done to rule out any lower respiratory tract infection and thirdly on the advise of your attending doctor you should start taking a course of anti-biotics to take care of your upper respiratory infection. You could use steam inhalations and warm saline gargle to relieve you of the chest congesion. You can also take an inti-inflammatory tablet to relieve you of the pain and soreness in your throat. Besides all this you will need a course of antibiotics so do visit your physician and get it prescribed. Take care.
