General & Family Physician, Dr. Jay Patel's Response
Hi,
Based from the information it seems that you are having "ARTHRITIS" which is a inflammation of major joints.
Causes are mostly two as follows
1) RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS. (Auto immune disorder)
2) DEGENERATIVE ARTHRITIS. ( over use arthritis )
ADVICE:
Now you can keep taking the ADVIL as long as it helps to gain comfort, but if the pain is out of control then needs to consult physician.
The physician will do some blood work as well as an X-ray of joint to find the leading cause for the problem once the cause is found they will prescribe appropriate anti-inflamatory drug with pain killer power to relieve the issue.
Mean while
1) Hot water sponging may help to reduce the pain.
2) please try to provide proper rest to the joints, and avoid heavy exercises
3) Keep on taking ADVIL as long it helps.
Hope I have addressed your question properly.
