Painful Toe, Unable To Wear Footwear. Prescribed Orthotic. Do I Have Arthritis?

I have been having pain in my big toe for several months. I went to a podiatrist who x rayed it and saw no fractures. I was prescribed an orthotic that helps when I'm wearing shoes. When I'm not wearing shoes it hurts though. I was told by my internist that it's arthritis and there is nothing I can do. I'm 22 though. Does it make sense that a healthy 22 yr old should have arthritis?

Hello user,
There are many types of arthritis, most of them are seen in old age but there are few types of arthritis, which are found in young adults too.

I would rather advise you to let your X-ray one again examined, now by a Orthopaedician. He can comment and describe your illness in more details.

hope my info helped you
