Persisting Bleeding After Abortion. Is It Normal? Took Methergin And Riconia
My girlfriend had gone for an abortion operation after one and a half months of pregnancy. The abortion as per the doctor was successful. The doctor gave her pills for about one month and said she wouldn't be bleeding for more than a couple of days. Now, its almost a month and she is still bleeding intermittently. Initially, the doctor said it was spotting, now I am perplexed, is it normal to bleed this long? She was given the medications: 1 capsule methergin thrice daily for 2 days, 1 capsule riconia at bed time for 1 month, 1 tab novelon for 21 days, 1 capsule autrin daily after food for one month
Hello thanks for your query. It is not normal to bleed continuously for a month after abortion. Spotting off and on is common. The medicines given are absolutely alright to control the irregular spotting. It should be confirmed that the uterine cavity is empty , with pelvic ultrasound, fifteen days after the abortion. If that is the case, then the spotting should get alright with the treatment prescribed. All the best.
