Pneumonia, Lathargic, Test Reports Normal, Staph Infection
My niece is 10 months old and has been hospitalized for pnemonia. pumping her full of antibiotics , but she is very lathargic. Isn t waking up at all now for 48 hours. They have run an MRI and CT scan and everything looks normal. She recently had Staph infection also. They are going to do a spinal tap this afternoon, and some blood work. We live in a very small community and are concerned we might be wasting time here, when we should be heading down to the City hospitals and specialists. She was fine on Saturday, and just wouldn t wake up on Sunday morning. What should we do to advocate and what should I be looking up and researching medically?

Pneumonia, Lathargic, Test Reports Normal, Staph Infection
Hi, the doctors there have to check also for meningeal infection by doing a spinal tap. If it is not an infection of the central nervous system than may be this situation is related to pneumonia and Staphylococcal infection. It may take time to recover.
