Pregnant, Abdominal Cramps, Spotting. Ultrasound Shows No Fetal Pole. History Of D&C. Cause Of Worry?
I am currently five Weeks pregnant and have been having lower abdominal cramping and some spotting. I went to the ER and there an ultrasound was given. There is a sac but no fetal pole . Today I had a very pain and when I went to the bathroom I wiped and there is a brownish, reddish, greyish discharge . I have to live births and I have one D &C n 2008 for Blighted Ovum . How concerned should I be since I am not soaking thru pad every hour.
Hi,
Usually when trans abdominal scan is taken fetal pole may not be detected by 5th week.
And some amount of spotting is common in early pregnancy due to causes like,
-Gestational sac while getting embedded in uterus wall can damage some blood vessels leading to spotting.
-Bleeding may be seen on expected day of periods even in pregnancy.
-Increased blood supply to local organs can cause spotting even on mild friction.
So you wait for two more weeks and undergo repeat ultrasound which will possibly detect the fetal pole.
But if the bleeding becomes severe or pain abdomen etc appears better to consult gynecologist early.
Take care.
