Prescribed Elleste 1mg. Have Migraines, Hot Flushes. History Of Mini Stroke Dementure In Family. Healthy Lifestyle. Guide

Hi I have been prescribed Elleste 1mg. I have not started it yet, as I am worried as I have suffered with migraines since I was about 14. Also my Mum had the mini stroke dementure. I have been told I have to way up the risked and benefits, I am quite fit as i work out, ski, and run, but the hot flushes really get me down and get in the way of life. I dont want to gain weight. So any suggestions to help me make up my mind would be good. Christine

Hi and thanks for the query,
I do really think the drug is a good drug, that has proven its efficacy in many patients. However, it might be important to know if first line agents, effective in the treatment of migraine, have been tried already or not. It is however to control or prevent any modifiable risk factors like High blood pressure and blood lipids. The opinion of the neurologist remains key in the decision making process. Thanks and kind regards
