Provide More Information On Sputum Test

i had my sputum test and the initial result was negative, but the doctor said that i still have to wait for the final result for 2 months. if the initial result is negative does this mean that my final result would be negative too? iam 54 yrs. old , 5' height and 110 lbs. i am a smoker. i had my x-ray

I think you have tested for tuberculosis. So as if you tested initially means laboratory person has conducted ZN Stain which will give negative result. but sputum smear negative samples may be positive in culture results. culture results requires 48 days to declare it as negative. so your doctor said you a duration. but if you want to have quick results regarding your status that you should do a one of the rapid test you can say gen xpert. this test will give you result in 2 hours along with isoniazid sensitivity. other important test is MGIT this test gives result in 7 days along with full senisitivity.
