Recurring Pain Below Rib Cage. Colonoscopy And Endoscopy Negative. Can Pancreas Be The Cause For Pain?
I have been having reocurring pain in my upper left side just under the rib cage for about nine months. I had a colonoscopy and endoscopopy done in August that was nagative. Since I am a type 1 1/2 diabetic wearing an insulin pump, I am worried about my pancreas. Is there a test that I should ask my Doctor about to be sure that my pancrea is not the cause of my pain? Thank you for your help S.L.
You need Ultrasound of abdomen to rule out any abdominal visceral pathology.
In few cases pancreas is not well visualized due to excessive bowel gas or obesity then CT Scan of abdomen should be done as it is very sensitive for pancreatic and other abdominal pathology.
Cardiac,Renal and lung causes should also be ruled out as it may also be the cause of pain.
You need investigations like routine hemogram,RBS,LFT,RFT,Lipid profile ,ECG in all leads, Chest X-ray (PA view). These investigations will rule out other possibilities.
Get well soon.
Take Care
