Red Patches On Face, Occasionally Red And Dark, No Itching Or Swelling. Reason?
My 2.5 yrs old baby has red patches on face and they are not itchy, dry, or swollen, but are red, some times light red and some times dark, but they appear all the time. This happens last week, it started from a small red spot on cheek and then it increases and now on both cheeks and chin and at few areas on arms and thighs. Please help.
Hi neha,
Thanks for your query.
Well I understand your concern. The red spots u are talking about can be because of atopic dermatitis .they are generally like red dry skin, sometimes scaly or red bumps usually comes and goes
Generally more seen in winter season ,there can be a family history of hay fever, asthma, allergic rhinitis, eczema.
For this u have to give bath daily using mild fragnance free soaps .keep skin little damp that is don't dry it completely .then apply good amt of moisturiser/emollient .dress up baby with soft airy clothes and avoid rapid change in weather, keep baby away from cigarette .
I hope my advice will be helpful for u in case of further issues keep me posted
God bless
Dr Aarti
Hi Neha,
In winter season because of decreased moisture in weather skin become dry and some times it may lead to erythematous rash especially on exposed parts like face and limbs.
You can apply moisturizing lotions thrice daily and after bathing immediately to retain the water every day.
If the rash is not coming down with this consult your Pediatrician for examination of rash and for treatment.
Hope i have answered your query.
