Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Sever Headache, Dizziness And Orthostatic Hypo-tension. What Could It Be?
My son is 13 years old, and has been getting sick pretty much since he was about 2. he gets severe headaches, dizziness, and orthostatic hypo-tension. He is currently going to the children's hospital so we can find out what is going on with him. I have been paying close attention to him and his symptoms and have realized these episodes are happening when he is growing and again, this has been happening since he was very small and he is usually 'down' for a week to two during these 'episodes'. What do you think it could be?
I need to clarify two things before we can try to find an answer to your query. Growing in a child is a constant process and secondly what are the blood pressure readings when your son is lying down and when he is standing.
Headaches and dizziness can be due to a number of reasons for which a detailed clinical history and examination is required. You should discuss the issue with the treating doctor who may like your son to be reviewed by:
1. ENT doctor
2. Ophthalmologist
3. Neurologist
before a final cause can be found out.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
