Sharp Abdominal Pain, Vomiting After Eating, Burning In Chest. History Of Acid Reflux. Treatment?
My daughter is 16 years old and has a history of acid reflux . She woke up in the middle of the night with sharp stabbing pains and vomiting . Sometimes she will eat and before it has even had time to digest she is throwing it back up and also has severe burning with it. After she throws up she seems to feel better but then hungry
Your daughter seems to be suffering from severe gastritis . She needs to be evaluated by a gastroenterologist . she will most probably need an endoscopy to rule out conditions such as peptic ulcer , Gerd , obstructive diseases etc .
Mean while she can follow these steps .
1. eat non spicy food
2. eat small meals at regular intervals
3. have food containing plenty of fibres.
4. have a light and early dinner
5. exercise regularly.
She can start tab . pantoprazole + tab. domperidone once in the morning half hour before breakfast if infection has been ruled out . she can take this medication for about a week .
