Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Usually at the age of 6 years, brushing teeth will be sufficient if she cleans her teeth in a proper method .

If there is plaque accumulation due to improper oral hygiene, get her teeth cleaned by a dentist.

Use soft bristled toothbrush and clean your teeth involving all aspects of teeth.

Use chlorhexidine mouthrinses to gargle.

Maintain oral care.

Rinse your mouth after every meals.

Take care.

Dentist Dr. Anshumala Singh's  Response
Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

I would definitely suggest you to visit pedodontist(dentist for child patients),not to clean her teeth but for a dental check up.

There, your child will be taught brushing technique and if required your pedodontist will suggest mild cleaning there, rest she should learn and continue brushing on her own at home.
Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Take care.

Hello,
I am Dr.Neha Gupta (dentist) and am glad to address to your query here.

In addition to teaching your children the importance of regular brushing and flossing, routine visits to the dentist and a healthy diet, it is important that you set a good example by also practicing good dental hygiene.

If you feel that her teeth are dirty, then of course you should visit your dentist and get it cleaned.

Take care and please keep me informed of your progress at healthcaremagic through my profile directly.

hello there ,

Oral propylaxis or cleaning of the teeth and gums can be done at any age .

age is not a criteria at all to decide for teeth cleaning infact childrens need professional cleaning of the teeth as they are more prone to get dental caries and other gums problems like gingivitis.

childrens have improper brushing techniques , improper food habits which may invite dental problems like dental decay and accumulation of bacterial plaque and calculus that leads to gingivitis .

so i would suggest you to go for professional cleaning of teeth for your childrens every 6 months by a dentist.

i hope this helps ,

take care.

Dentist, Endodontics Dr. Himanshu Govil's  Response
Hello,

Firstly, routine dental check up should be done every 3-6 months depending on different scenarios.
So, you should definitely go to get your daughter checked by your dentist/hygienist.
He/She will accordingly decide the requirement of dental cleaning.
Routinely, one should get his/her teeth cleaning/scaling done every 6 months - 1 yr. period.
Also request your dentist/hygienist to give instructions to your daughter.

Hope this helps.

With Regards,

Hi,

Age is not at all the criteria for the cleaning of the teeth.
you can take your daughter to get her teeth cleaned.

Tell your hygienist to teach her the proper brushing method and motivate her to brush twice daily.

Thanks,
Dr. Vishal jain.

Dentist Dr. Sushant Benjamin's  Response
Yes, please, if you think that your daughter's teeth are in need of getting cleaned, then please do get them cleaned... Also, the earlier she starts with dental procedures, the less scared of them she will be as she grows up, & a scaling would be ideal procedure, so do not hesitate if it is needed...!

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

There is definetly no harm in going for scaling and polishing of your daughter ,
Go for a checkup of your child and if there is presence of plague calculus you can go for scaling.

Ask the dentist to give proper instructions to the child.
Ideally you should go for her teeth cleaning every six month or year,

Hope this helps out.

Regards..

Initially teach her how to brush her tooth .. once in a 15 days have a look at your baby's teeth and if you see any deposits or dark spots (caries) on the teeth take her to dentist . If she is not brushing properly by her own , get her some flavoured paste available for kids , that may help .

Hello, get a yery soft brush for your kid and teach your child how to brush properly before going to bed in the night instead of doing in the morning and make it her habit and ask her to gargle after every meal that will prevent deposition on the tooth surface but if you find any soft or hard deposits on teeth then consult dentist
Thanks and good wishes for your sweet doll

using a baby brush you can clean your baby's teeth. first teach her how to brush teeth and then let her brush on her own. Initially you only do her brushing. If you find some deposits in her teeth then you should go to hygienist.
