Small Child, Stopped Breathing For Few Seconds, Excessive Saliva In Mouth. Medical Emergency?
My 10 day old baby stopped breathing for about 15 seconds. I noticed that she had excessive saliva in her mouth and tapped her back as I turned her face down. I also used a cloth to scoop out. the saliva. This seemed to clear her ....and she started to breathe again. Should I seek further medical help? Can this recur during sleep? I will not be able to keep my eyes off her.
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
This episode may be because of apnea as some times choking of milk may present with cessation of respiratory movements.
Child should be kept on his back on lying position to prevent SIDS.
Consult your Pediatrician to rule out the other causes and complete assessment of the child.
Hope i have answered your query.
