Sore Throat, Back Of Neck Pain, Large Adam's Apple, Swelling. Should I Be Concerned?
Hello...I am a 57 year old lady ..fit...slim...I have had a very painful sore throat worse at night time...for about three days..and the back of my kneck has been hurting really bad...and I noticed today I seem to have a large adams apple and a swelling on it to the right of it...but it does not hurt at all...should I go get it checked or just leave it and wait til my sore throat has gone and neck ache?
I read your complaints regarding sore throat and swelling on the adm's apple and another one is just right of it. You have pain in your throat and back of neck but the lump on neck lies at the side of adam's apple is not hurting atall.
No doubt you are having upper respiratory tract infection in the form of sore throat but the lump you felt in neck , just right of adam's apple is unlikely due to acute infection of throat because it is not painful. Therefore FNAC should be done to know the nature of the lump.
Considering above facts it appears a thorough examination of throat and relevent investigations are necessary to pin point the diagnosis and that may be accordingly plan for treatment.
I hope above discription answers your query.
Regards.
