My son went to the doctor..he has been complaining about sore throat for about a week now and the strep test was negative..they said it was viral and to gargle with salt water...Today he still has a sore throat and complaining of a sore throat and he has a big white puss ball that is getting bigger..should I take him back to doctor..he has no fever..He has a history of strep throat
hi,
your son might be suffering acute tonsilitis. which needs good antibitioc and antiinflammatory for week along with salt water gargling and also ask him to stop eating cldo food stuffs mainly ice cream. clod drinks and also chocolates. give him plenty of warm fluids and rest for few days. it will surely improve his condition.
Please get your son examined again by an apt ENT specialist. If the sore throat is persisting for more than one week it is better to start on antibiotics. Encourage your son to drink plenty of warm water, warm liquids and soups, also try throat gargles with Povidone Iodine mouth gargles 3-4times/day, after food.
