Suffer From Diabetes , High Microalbumin. Any Natural Remedy?

Good morning. my husband has applied for life insurance and it was declined due to a high result of microalbumin - apparantly a count of 80. he has since undergone a liver cleanse and a follow-up test resulted in a count of 67.6 mg/L and a ratio of 1.4. He has had diabetes type 2, but after a raw diet and a year later he has normal HBA1C tests. He normally eats very healthy. I have read a few articles about this and the risks involved. However, I would appreciate a recommendation for natural remedies Amanda South Africa

Hello Amanda,
Microalbuminuria is a predictor of Kidney and Cardiac risk in Diabetes Glycemic control can prevent progression to microalbuminuria. Preventing the progression of each step of renal disease in patients with diabetes — microalbuminuria, diabetic nephropathy, and ESRD or death — can be achieved with blood pressure control and the use of antiangiotensin therapies such as angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers. These measures have been proven to reduce the MAU and protect the kidneys so do meet your doc and start therapies if not done already .

General & Family Physician Dr. Pavan Kumar Gupta's  Response
Hello,
Any level of urine albumin between 30 and 300 is called as micro albuminaria. Microalbuminuria is an important clinical finding because it is not only associated with an increased risk of progression to overt proteinuria (macroalbuminuria) and renal failure, but also cardiovascular events. In patients who progress to overt nephropathy, microalbuminuria usually precedes macroalbuminuria by an interval of 5 to 10 years.

It has been seen that lowering of BP with agents that interfere with the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, such as ACE inhibitors or ARB is most effective for lowering urinary albumin excretion.Even if patient doesn't have,he should be given these ACE inhibitors or ARB's.

It is better for your husband to take a proper advice and treatment from diabetologist as well as a nephrologist. He may land in trouble soon if proper medical treatment is avoided in favour of natural treatment.

Your goals of treatment should be

Tight blood sugar control ( HBA1c below 7 )
Lowering of BP to below 120/80 with either ACE inhibitors or ARB's
Controlling dyslipidemia
Quitting smoking if any.
Avoiding all nephrotoxic drugs
Prompt control of any urinary tract infection
Low protein and low potassium diet
Avoiding potassium sparing diuretics like spironolactone.
Be in regular touch with your diabetologist as well as nephrologist.
Thanks
