Suffer From Gastric Pain After Hysterectomy. Can I Take Gas X?
I just had a hysterectomy on Thursday and have been fighting a lot of gas psi that has warranted me exhausted and not wanting to eat. I have been drinking lots of fluid and reducing my pain meds to see if that helps me to have a bowel movement, which I think will help me feel better. Is it ok to,take a GasX to help with the gas pains?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Jay Patel's Response
Hi,
It seems that you may have post operative "paralytic ileus" which is very common and you need to ask you physician to give you medication for this issue. The medication will help your gut to come back to normal motility, so that you can pass stool.
Mean while its ok to use GasX to relieve gas issues.
ADVISE: Please let your surgeon know about the issue and help you self get better soon.
Hope it helps. Dr. JAY PATEL
