Suffering From Fever. Taking Tylenol And Ibuprofen. Given Large Doses Of Vancomycin. Normal?
I am a 60 year old healthy man. I just spent three days in the hospital due to several days of fever ranging from 101.5 to 104.2 No other symptoms other than head and neck and eye ache. I had been on alternating tylenol and ibuprofen. The hospital did numerous tests including a flu test which was negative, many blood panels and MRI's CT's and two spinal taps. All were normal or close to normal accept my C-RP which was extremely high. I was given large doses of Vancomycin as well as another antibiotic. The diagnosis was bacterial infection even possibly meningitis. My question is now that I am home, the fevers have abated but now my temperature is between 97.1 and 97.5 Is this normal?
Hi, Thank you for posting your query. Based on the description, the treatment has probably been in right track. As you mentioned, you were given empirical treatment with a presumptive diagnosis of bacterial meningitis. Your temperatures are within the normal range. Please get back if you require any additional information.
