Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell about 6 weeks ago - I was walking the dog at night and of course I found the only hole in the yard. I fell hard and heard a pop, I experienced excruciating pain for a few minutes and was able to hobble into the house. I severely injured this ankle several years ago, falling in a hole again (go figure) and tore all four ligaments. Because of my history with this ankle I felt it was probably just a severe sprain. It did not bruise or swell too bad. I iced and elevated for about 24 hours. However, I am still having problems with it. It seems to "lock up" occasionally and I have a lot of pain when that happens. It feels rather week and I don't have full rotation without some minor pain.

Suffering From Severe Ankle Pain Due To An Injury
Hi there... Thanks for writing in.. You did the right thing by applying ice and elevating the affected limb for initial 24 hours. Now it has already been 6 weeks since the incident.... it is time for the injury to heal... If you are still having pain please visit an orthopaedician who be in a better position to help you. In the meantime you can apply a pain relief gel like diclofenac . Half an hour later , do hot fomentation. Hope this helps. Regards, Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
