Suggest Medication For Cough, runny Nose And Red Spots On The Roof Of Mouth
Hello. My 4 year old son has been sick for the past few days. His symptoms started as a slight cough and runny nose. Now he has a fever which I have controlled with ibeprofen. I took him to see a doctor yesterday and he tested negative for strep. Though he did have a bit of puss in his throat. They say it is probably a virus/ larengytis. Now suddly I am seeing red spots on the rough of his mouth. I know hand, foot, and mouth has been shooting through his school but I m not sure what to look for. They sent out for a culture which couild take days to return, plus that was BEFORE the new spots???
I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.
The symptoms that your son is experiencing might be related to stomatitis that is a complication of the virus. Stomatitis is the inflammation of lips and mouth. The symptoms of stomatitis are: fatigue, difficulty in eating and red spots on mouth. In this case it might be herpetic stomatitis.
Treatment involves: 1. Acyclovir, which fights the virus causing the infection. 2. A mostly liquid diet of cool/cold nonacidic drinks.
