Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm getting terrible pain on my right shoulder up to the left edge of my scapula... the pain would crawl down to my right arm specifically the bicep near the under arm and the muscle on top of of the forearm bringing numbness to my fingers... I got my X-ray result and it says my scapula is fine but found moderate arthritis (narrowing) of the C5-6 level disc and mild arthritis of the C6-7 disc space. I'm doing therapy and already had 2 sessions, they showed and gave me daily exercises to do it's helping but soo gradual... I stopped taking pain killers for 4 days because the pain's bearable already unlike before the Physical Therapy I would wake up at 2, 3, or 4 am in so much pain... but 3 nights I had a good sleep without taking pain pill too... but at 2 am today the pain came back same degree so I didn't take pain pill til at 6 am after eating... I've been off from working because of this for almost a month now... I'm off til next week but hoping to go back to work after next week... I work as a server in a retirement home... why did the pain come back and what should I do? My next PT appt is Feb 1
I have studied your case. Due to compression of nerve root there is tingling numbness in your arm and fingers pain associated with it. I will advise you to MRI cervical spine for better diagnosis.
For these symptoms analgesic and neurotropic medication can be started. Till time, avoid lifting weights, Sit with support to back. You can consult physiotherapist for help. Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief. I will advise to check your vit B12 and vit D3 level. You may need local injection if there is no relief with PT.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Take care
