Good day to you, I have a pulmonary scars since the last time I diagnosed year 2000 and up to now the lungs scars still shown on my x-ray. As of now I'm working in Dubai and planning to work in Canada or Australia. My question is, is there any way to remove this pulmonary scars by operations or by medicine? Thank You

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM. Pulmonary scar is a result of previous healed TB or pneumonia. And healing occurs mostly in the form of either fibrosis or calcification. In both of these scar is permanent and remains through out the life.No medicines available for this as this is not a disease. And no need to remove this by surgery as it is dead tissue. The risk of surgery is far far far life threatening and none of the surgeon will operate. So in my opinion you should not at all worry about scar. If you are facing problems in VISA due to scar, better to consult pulmonologist and get done Bronchoscopy and BAL analysis. If this is negative than the scar is not having infection like TB or pneumonia.
