Suggest Remedy For Swollen Tonsils

My 19 year old college student had strep throat 3 months ago. She was prescribed amoxicillin (10 day course), pencillin (10 day course)' & finally augmentin that finally cleared the strep. However, her tonsils are still 4 plus, she is snoring which she didn't do before she left home & her speech is affected (sounds like she has cotton in her mouth). What can be done to reduce the swelling besides a tonsillectomy?

if snoring is severe and there is breathing problem or infected more than 5 times a year , she is advices with tonsillectomy.
snoring has also other reasons apart from tonsils ( like sagging of soft palate )
