Suggest Treatment For Cough And Stuffy Nose With Blood Phlegm
Hi, I m a 29 yr old female. I had a horrible cough and stuffy/runny nose about 5 weeks ago. The cough is gone but I m still blowing my nose. The entire time I ve had a yellowish/green mucus that I both cough up and blow out of my nose. About a week ago everytime I blew my nose there would be blood in it. Now I have this thick mucus brown snot that is the consistency of slime (that s the best way I know how to describe it) as well as the yellow/green stuff. My nose isn t stuffy but I m still blowing it. I don t feel much pressure on my face but I do have a headache. I m not sure if I should go to the doctor s or not. I asked my step-mom who is a nurse and she just kind of told me there is blood in my boogers because my nose is dry or I m blowing it a lot, and that it s not much of a concern.
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
The symptoms seem to be related to a cold that you have already passed weeks ago. The blood in the mucus is related to microtrauma of the vessels in the nose due to frequent blowing. I recommend to use a saline nasal spray for local application to the nostrils. I also suggest drinking liquids. You should not be worried about it.
Hope my answer was helpful.
