I am 30 years old, height - 5.5 , weight - 55kgs I am type 1 diabetic patient since last 5 years. Using Actropid insulin 10 units 3 times a day and Lantus 24 once in the night. These are the test results: HBA13 - 9.1 C-peptide - .04% Could you advise me the treatment further.
Hi, your combination of medicines (insulin) is very good. ideally for a type 1 patient we fix dosages based on your blood sugar reading before and after meal. Your HbA1c is definitely high and it may be due to elevated sugars or fluctuations in blood sugar so it is not possible to fix a dose based on HbA1c alone. please take before and after meal blood sugars and get back to us. We will try the best to help you.
Dear Sir/Madam Obviously your HbA1c is high. for the weight you have mentioned i feel you are on lesser dose of actrapid insulin. i feel doing a blood sugar charting will help us fix your dose. Kindly do a 6point blood sugar profile (FBS, ppbs, before lunch, after lunch, before dinner, after dinner - need not be done on the same day) this will help finalize the dose. minor adjustments can be done by you depending on blood sugars. please do it fast as you are a young person and we don't want any diabetes related complications. Hope i answered your question. Dr.Riyaz sheriff
