Suggest Treatment For Disc Disease And Degenerative Arthritis
My80 year old mother recently had a CT scan on her cervical spine. Results were degenerative disc disease, degenerative arthritis on numerous levels. Her family Dr. dismissed her and said there was nothing to be done because of heart condition. Dr. gave her handful of pain medication and left. What options does she have if any? She is in severe pain and has not quality of life. Dr. made an appointment with neurologist for May 2015 (13 month wait) Do you have any advice? Seek second opinion?

Hi, welcome to HCM. She is suffering from cervical spondylitis(DEGENERATIVE DISEASE) as per my understanding of his query.She needs analgesic(diclofenac potasium100 mg slow release tablets),Diacerine 50mg daily ,glucosamine sulfate 1500mg daily. Surgery is only required only she has significant compressive neuropathic symptoms.Hope my answer will be helpful.
