Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Is she able to make any sound or babble? If some sounds are produced, we need not consider she is dumb now, as meaningful words will take few more months to develop. But, maintaining hearing intact is very important for proper language development.

Treatment depends on results of detailed evaluation and the underlying abnormality. Normal BERA suggests an intact auditory nerve and brain, suggesting that hearing aids might help and cochlear implantation may not be needed. Your ENT specialist will discuss these things in more details.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
