Suggest Treatment For Ear Pain Caused By An Injury
I got poked in my ear with a long thin rod. I heard a pop and my ear is bleeding a bit. I have pain (similar to an ear infection) What is the treatment? I also have medicated ear drops that I ve used in the past to prevent infection -shall I use them now?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read and understood that you have poled a long thin rod in the ear followed by popping sound and and the ear is bleeding.
This indicates that there may be a a perforation of the eardrum and possibly an injury to the ear canal to.
I would suggest you the following: Do not instill any drops as they really do not help as such. Consult an ENT to know the exact injury, whether there is perforation of the eardrum or trauma to the external ear canal. The further treatment will depend upon the actual findings and whether there is a any infection of the nose or throat or sinuses. If the perforation is small, this will heal within 3 weeks.
