Suggest Treatment For Hypothyroidism

hi,i was diagnosed as hypothyroidism 3 months back. I started .50mg eltroxin as my TSH was 7.2,T3 and T4 was normal.After 1month TSH came to normal.Then i get it repeated after 1 mth TSH was 0.2, T3 & T4 WAS normal.Then i stopped the medication for 10 days & started on 0.25mg eltroxin& TSH was repeated & was 32. what to do now.

I have read your question fully and understand your concerns.

As your TSH is currently 32, and you are on .25mg of Eltroxin, I would advise you to increase it to 0.375 mg (or also called 37.5 micrograms). Recheck your TSH in 6 weeks (not 4 weeks). As your TSH is fluctuating quite a bit, do not increase or decrease your Eltroxin dose by half of your dose. You need to gradually increase or decrease it by 12.5 micrograms.
Further, try not to stop medication altogether for more than couple of days.

The TSH will rebound increase. In some certain patients, if TSH is fluctuating, doctors may prescribe Eltroxin from Monday-Friday, but would ask the patient not to take the tablet on Saturday and Sunday.
