Suggest Treatment For Pain Around Belly Button

When my daughter was born in 1995 her pediatrician mentioned she may have an umbilical hernia and I shouldn t be concerned unless it posed any problems and would probably close up on it s own. Now that she s 18 she recently complained about pain around her belly button . We had a CT scan done and it came back no evidence for hernia. I guess my question is...Is it possible for false results from CT scans?

Hi
Welcome to health care magic.
CT scan of abdomen is a very highly sensitive test for detecting umbilical hernia and other similar abdominal problems, if it is giving no indication of residual hernia then it is really so.
Pain abdomen can be due to many causes.
I think it is better you get your daughter examined by a local surgeon or a physician and get her treated for whatever the cause for her ailment.
It is highly unlikely that the umbilical hernia should be a cause at this age.
I hope that the advise will be helpful for you.
