Hello....my 17 year old daughter has scalp acne and has been on doxycycline (sp? this antibiotic did not clear it up) and now her dermatologist wants her to go on Isotretinoin. Everything I have read about this drug is horrifying and something we are not willing to do or risk. I am willing to buy good shampoos/conditioners for her. Is there anything else you could recommend? We thought about seeking out a different dermatologist too. Thank you
hi there. 1. your daughter concern may be chronic folliculitis. 2. she can try betadine shampoo weekly twice . apply any hair oil gently to the shaft of the hair, not on the roots. than wash the scalp gently with soft water through betadine shampoo. 3. then she can try epiduo gel on affected folliculitis, once daily bed time. 4. ask her to avoid all sorts of dairy products temporarily until rash fades away and ask her to prefer vit A rich diet like carrots. this may help her, don't worry.
