Throat Pain, Difficulty Swallowing, Swollen Tonsils And Redness, Yellow Tinge. Will I Feel Better?
Hi doctor, 2 days ago my throat was hurting, had difficulty swallowing and my tonsils were swollen and red, there was no white patches, just the back of my throat and sides by my tonsils inflamed. the next day after i was having a runny nose with yellow discharge in the morning with thick consistency and later on the same day turned clear with yellow tinged and more thin in consistency. My lung sounds were clear. I have a dry cough occasionally and i started to notice this yellowing on my soft palate on the sides near my tonsils. What could this be? should i be worried or just let it run its course?
Hi and thanks for the query, Looks like you have developed an upper respiratory tract infection. Since its been more than 2 days please pay a visit to a doctor. The yellowish thing is probably discharge from the tonsil. It could also be more sinister problem like diphtheria. You will require a course of antibiotic, anti inflammatory, nose drops. Please follow some general measures. 1) Warm salt water gargles. 2) Plenty of fluids. 3) Avoid fan, air conditioning and cold foods. 4) Steam inhalation. 5) Adequate diet.
