Welcome to HCM. If your doctor has found low thyroxine production in your thyroid with elevated TSH values, thyroid hormone wil need to be given to rectify the shortfall. The thyroid is like the regulator with the body being the fan ,the speed needs to be normalised by filling up the shortfall. If the production of the hormone from the body does not go up,you may need long term thyroid supplementation.
