Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM,

Electronic cigarettes should theoretically have fewer toxic effects than traditional cigarettes but there is unfortunately little evidence to support this fact. According to FDA there are some toxic substances that could be carcinogenic (cancer triggering substances) but with less likely effect like traditional cigarettes. In fact almost all the substances are in little proportions hence may cause few toxicity. E-cigs can be acceptable for quitting cigarettes and are known to have similar benefits to nicotine gum.
There is no evidence or no direct correlation as to whether e-cigs can lead to tonsilitis as in your case. The symptoms you present are that of tonsilitis (inflammation/infection of tonsils) mean while the additional whitish plaque suggest candidiasis of the throat which I must say can occur spontaneously without necessarily having a trigger. If you are exposed accidently to candida albicans and are unfortunate enough that your immune system did not combat them before they settle on your throat, you will end up with the infection. It is also frequently seen in people with immune suppressed systems.
I suggest you see a doctor for complete medical evaluation and subsequently treatment.

Hope this helps
