Hello..i just wanted to ask about the ultrasound result of my mother.. the remarks: The uterus is anteverted with regular contour and homogeneous myometrium . There are no myometrial masses seen The cervix is bulky, irregular and heterogeneous probably representing a cervical pathology . The endometrium is thin and isoechoic with intact endomyometrial interface. Both ovaries are not visualized in this scan probably atrophic. There are no adnexal masses seen.
From your description your mother's pelvic ultrasound seems to be find except for the cervix which seems to have abnormalities and also the absence of ovaries which probably has atrophied with ageing as you earlier mentioned (given that she has not previous abdominal surgical history) . Bulky irregular heterogenous cervix indicates most probably a diseases condition which could be benign or malignant. The only way to determine the cause of the presentation of the cervix on ultrasound is to do first a pap smear, then do a biopsy and analyses in a laboratory. After which a doctor/gynobs would have to proceed with appropriate management plan depending on the results. As cervical cancer management depends on stage and level of metastasis. It could be cervical benign hyperplasia which could require only medical treatment.
Hope this helps
